Lefay Resort & SPA Lago di Garda: Green-certified holiday.

Environmental wellness and personal wellness. At the Lefay Resort & SPA in Gargnano, on Lake Garda, Italy, all of this is possible, with the added plus of green certifications. An example of a sustainable holiday without giving up anything.



The Riviera dei Limoni is the backdrop for the Lefay Resort & SPA Lago di Garda, which focused on eco-sustainability right from the outset, with its architectural design. Not a single block but individual units with green roofs that not only follow the lie of the land, but also the typical architecture of Upper Garda - the limonaie. These are stone and timber conservatories built to grow lemons in winter.



The resort was built using natural materials, most of which was locally sourced – olive wood, Italian walnut and red marble from Verona.



The resort’s guidelines include saving energy and reducing its carbon footprint and it does this by using only renewable energy sources for cooling and filtering the air and for electricity. The small amount of electricity not self-produced is bought through Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs).



Its commitment to sustainability also extends to the local community: where possible, the hotel employs only residents in neighbouring areas and, to favour local economic development, in keeping with its goal to reduce carbon emissions, 70% of its products are sourced from zero food mile suppliers – from within the province of Brescia, where the resort is located.





All of these efforts have paid off and it obtained ISO 14001 and Green Globe certifications, along with the official award for environmentally-friendly innovation “Premio all'Innovazione Amica dell'Ambiente”, issued by the Italian Ministry of the Environment.
