Visual Display designs BU.CO, a restaurant in Udine Interior Design and Brand Identity are the keywords in the project by architects Giulia Minozzi and Rune Ricciardelli from the Italian creative agency Visual Display. A leap into American ambience without stepping outside the biggest shopping centre in the Alpe Adria zone.

We all know that some people have a gift for “storytelling”, particularly since that has become the buzzword for the world of the web and marketing. And when the narrative gift meets the creativity of architects, then you get some really special results. One of these is BU.CO, a an acronym of Burger&Cocktail, a restaurant in Città Fiera di Martignacco, Udine, Italy.
Apart from it being easy to get to, the context posed a major challenge, because, in order to stand out from all the rest of the visual stimuli, you need to have a really strong impact. A challenge that the designers from the Italian creative agency Visual Display (link http://www.floornature.com/blog/mr-simon-secret-bar-12424/) were delighted to take up, happy to put into practice all their experience in the world of branding and visual identity. Indeed, the project encompassed the logo, signage, all the visual communication and even the website.
The 300-square-metre restaurant also has a 170-square-metre undercover terrace and a separate entrance from the actual shopping centre.
Despite the large size and the concrete ceilings with some exposed ducting, the place has a really friendly feel, assisted by the used furniture, original photos and vintage objects like old motorbike parts, odds and ends from the world of music and soft lighting. And it's all balanced, just like in an intriguing story. There's even a small stage for live music so you can enjoy the full experience of the American dream.
The designers from Visual Display involve patrons here in their visual narrative, enriched by cocktails, fine quality food and a great selection of beers. A pleasant, relaxing contrast to the hectic busyness of shopping, or simply an opportunity to treat yourself to a small getaway to the United States of our collective imagination.
