Architecture Discipline builds sustainable clinics out of containers in Delhi

The architecture firm Architecture Discipline, established in 2007 by the architect Akshat Bhatt, has developed a project with a special focus on sustainability. The design of the Mohalla Clinics involved recycling containers that were used to bring affordable healthcare to various neighborhoods in Delhi.

BIG designs new Neuroscience Centre at Aarhus University Hospital

The BIG architecture studio has presented the design of the new Neuroscience Centre for the University Hospital in Aarhus, Denmark, a structure whose folds will evoke the shape of the cerebral cortex. The building will bring together both the psychiatry and neuroscience departments, creating synergies between the different disciplines focused on the research and treatment of physical and mental diseases involving the nervous system.

Friendship Hospital in Bangladesh wins the RIBA International Prize 2021

The winners of RIBA’s biennial international awards have been announced. Friendship Hospital, designed by architect Kashef Mahboob Chowdhury and his studio URBANA in Bangladesh, is the winner of the RIBA International Prize 2021. The RIBA International Emerging Architect 2021 is awarded to Hooba Design Group for the Kohan Ceram Central Office Building in Iran.

RPBW’s Children’s Surgical Hospital for Emergency in Entebbe

A "scandalously beautiful hospital" is how the late Italian surgeon and philanthropist Gino Strada, who passed away in the summer of 2021, described the request he submitted to architect Renzo Piano for the design of a new medical facility in Uganda: the Children’s Surgical Hospital in Entebbe, a virtuous example of good architecture, cooperation and co-design that opened in April 2021.

Regional Centre for Autism Care in Ciudad Camargo, Mexico

A joint project between the Urbánika architecture studio with Acento Colectivo and Plan Proyecto for the realisation of the Regional Centre for Autism Care (CRIAA) in Ciudad Camargo, in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico. The Centre is located inside a childrenâ's park, incorporating some of the existing trees to encourage dialogue between its young users and nature.
