BIG architectural studio has presented a new project, a proposal with the potential to change the Seoul skyline.

19 architectural studios presented their proposals for the southeast part of the master plan drawn up by Liebeskind’s architectural practice for the Yongsan district in Seoul.
The studios involved include such prominent names in international architecture as SOM, Dominique Perrault, REX, MVRDV and, of course, Danish studio BIG.

cross # Towers , the project proposed by BIG, consists of two towers 214 and 204 m high linked by horizontal structures: two bridges or horizontal bars at heights of 140 and 70 m, as well as connections at ground level and below ground.

Bjarke Ingels, a founding partner in BIG, underlined how the horizontal volumes permit introduction on different levels of functions which are normally reserved for the ground floor only, such as gardens and facilities for residents’ activities, and how the building as a whole will change the Seoul skyline.
