Petersen Architekten, BERLIN AIRPORT HOTEL
The team at Petersen Architekten had to design an extremely flexible building that included the possibility of converting spaces for new uses. Indeed, the hotel is located in a fully developing area with the construction of the new airport in Berlin Brandenburg "Willy Brandt" due for completion in autumn 2013.

Setting out from the need for a flexible floor plan, the architects from the Petersen practice worked on a modular system based on simple layout, inspired byLe Corbusier's Domino House.
The façade reflects the flexible floor plan, architectural ploys and the use of high performance materials ensure the possibility of positive inertia of the building against overheating from the sun and good sound insulation. The coloured skin panels create an abstract composition that aims at grabbing the attention of passersby.
